Almond trees were once widely planted in McLaren Vale, including on the land where the Richard Hamilton Almond Grove Chardonnay is now grown. The fresh 2023 vintage has a beautiful bouquet of freshly cut nectarine with a subtle influence of French oak. It's a medium-bodied Chardonnay bursting with stone fruit and enhanced by a spiced creaminess thanks to a combination of new French oak and ample maturation on less. The wine finishes dry with a clean, bright, soft acidity. An excellent companion for poultry, seafood or pasta.
Established in 1972, Mountadam Vineyards was founded by the late David Wynn, the first to recognise the potential of a cool, elevated site to produce Australian wines of great elegance and structure. He named the vineyard after his son, Adam who later became the estate's winemaker. Today, Mountadam is increasingly producing meticulously crafted wines of significant elegance. This is a lovely drop with "bell-clear varietal character" (Halliday).
The essence of summer: Take all the joy of a summer fruit salad, with the zip and zing of tropical fruit and a dash of sunshine, distil it into a wine and you will have the miracle that is Verdelho. A native of Portugal, this sumptuous grape has really made a home for itself here in Australia. It’s a wine you’ll be seeing a lot more of as it makes it way onto the wine lists of the country’s best restaurants. Love a fruit-forward Chardy without any of the oak? Partial to a tropical Sav Blanc that’s a little less grassy? This is your perfect middle-ground and will definitely hit the sweet spot.
It has been 90+ score after 90+ score for the 2022 vintage of Jellicoe Eden Valley Riesling. A concentrated palate with lime, sorbet and crunchy apple flavours. Serve chilled with barbequed scallops or King George Whiting. "Focused, true … lovely to drink" writes Dave Brookes in the Halliday Wine Companion. Sam Kim from Wine Orbit also gives it 95pts, calling it "… elegant, the wine shows lemon sorbet, lime cordial and crunchy apple nuances on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate displaying fine texture and stunning persistency. Superbly structured and lingering."
Introducing Miss Grigio from the Marauding Vintners... she's packing some serious fruit! If you like rich, fragrant and incredibly interesting whites, then you’re going to adore this one. Pick your way through honeysuckle and pear before finding yourself at a delicate finish that’s stimulating and lengthy. We suggest spending some quality time with Miss Grigio, she's the perfect partner over a great long lunch and such good company top sit and relax with as the sun sets.
Throughout the Margaret River, an extensive array of varietal expressions of both Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon proliferate. A treasure trove of diversity and choice has allowed the regions signature white blend to thrive. One of the region's best value examples is the spectacular 93pt Howard Park's Miamup. Sauvignon Blanc‘s vibrant flavours of ruby grapefruit, quince and finger lime accentuated by Semillon’s structure, texture and citrus driven acidity. A lively yet soft lime zest and chalk-like minerality delivers a bright, clean finish. Drink with charred octopus. "A stylish wine... 93pts. Great Value" (Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion). "inviting and fresh.the finish satisfying… attractively, ripely varietal" adds Huon Hooke in The Real Review.
