The Black Pig 11A Special Edition McLaren Vale Shiraz 2019

Steve Grimley is a legendary winemaker, with many awards to his name, and he and his team have produced the perfect drop to celebrate this 11th Anniversary milestone. Using top shelf fruit sourced from a single vineyard planted in 1977, this is one outstanding Shiraz. (As you will see when you taste it!) The wine comes from a site called Hillside, situated in the eastern foothills of McLaren Vale called. As Steve says, the vineyard is <i> “bone dry in the summer and lush and green enough to hold cattle in the winter … you look west and the ocean opens up all around you... some of the best sunsets on the planet from up in these parts. There’s many great wines made from ‘hills face’ Shiraz.” </i>. It's an exquisitely rich and alluring drop, with savoury characters of mixed spice and aromatic herbs, dark chocolate, and cassis and red fruits. Creamy, fine grained oak tannins intertwine with a rounding acidity, leading to a lovely warming dry finish. It's superb. Don't miss it!
