Wine Summary
The Schilds are the oldest family-owned grape growers in the Barossa Valley, and they are custodians of vineyards home to some of the oldest vines in the world – up to 170 years old. Fruit for the Prämie Shiraz comes from their Liebich Vineyard, high on the hills behind the township of Rowland Flat. “Vines planted ‘00, hand-picked and bunch-sorted, open-fermented, 4-day cold soak, 12-day ferment, some further maceration post-ferment, standard Schild schedule of oak handling. Intense, focused black fruit, licorice and bitter chocolate. The tannins are balanced, even though they are quite firm ... 96pts” (Halliday).
