Wine Summary
Bodegas de Familia Burgo Viejo grew from a co-operative of six farms in the Rioja who banded together nearly 30 years ago. The bodega has enjoyed huge success with their silky, expressive, complex, intense wines. Not surprising really. They’ve been on their land for generations and some of their vines are over 90 years old! Made from a lavish blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Carignan and aged in French and American oak barrels for 18 months, their sublime 2010 Palacio del Burgo Reserva Rioja has gained 91 points from Antonio Galloni at Vinous Magazine who writes of its “sexy floral pastille quality lingering” , 93 points from Wine Spectator “Graceful, with good intensity” and THREE Gold medals from the London International Wine Challenge, Mundus Vini in Germany, and the Asia Wine Trophy.
