Wine Summary
As The Guardian notes, “Palacio de Menade has a fine, cool vibrancy that will appeal to those who relish Sancerre.” You see, just like that famous area of the Loire, Castilla y León – Rueda in particular – has fine chalky soils, ideal for aromatic whites. The native grape is Verdejo, grown here for 1,000 years, but only now coming to the fore internationally, thanks to modern know-how. That is early morning harvesting and the ‘blanketing’ of grapes with inert gas straight after picking to protect them from oxidation. Full marks to local supremos the Sanz family, who combine six generations of tradition with state of the art technology. Palacio’s breezy, citrus and apricot freshness is perfect for pairing with seafood, canapés or risotto.
