Leogate Brokenback Hunter Valley Shiraz 2017
Seriously cellarable Hunter Shiraz
Since buying an historic plot in the Hunter Valley in 2009, Bill and Vicki Widin “have wasted no time” in building a winery, cellar door and fine wine range, and “have had a string of wine show successes for their very impressive portfolio” (Halliday).
“Matured in French (80%) and American (20%) oak. Balance is spot on and it’s evident in the way cherry-plum, leather and malt flavours seamlessly combine through the full length of the palate. Tannin too is tucked neatly in and length-wise there are no issues. It’s a red wine in a good place... 93pts” (Halliday).
