For the Marauding Vintners, real wine is not a commodity, but an expression of people, place and time, where art and nature merge. They know the real deal is often found off the beaten track, and devote time to tracking down the genuine characters. French born, Ms S still reigns in Bordeaux, select Loire venues and on stages in Sauternes, but is now a world fashion icon. A superstar in New Zealand with performances of impact and intensity, she might appear elsewhere in tropical guise, or adopt a smoky mystique and the name 'Fumé'. She flirts with partners, but proudly sports her Ms title. Here in Adelaide Hills, she's chilled and relaxed, combining fresh tropical charm and chic, crisp elegance. Lovely passionfruit, lime and lemongrass aromas. Crisp and crunchy palate with tightly-wound, refreshing acidity. At the centre, a refined fruit core of peach, lemon and gooseberry made textural with slate-like minerality.

A delicious Gold-winner from vineyards within earshot of the bells that call out from the 'City of Churches', Adelaide. You could almost say this is a real parish pleaser. This classy white is made for lazy warm weather drinking on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The International Challenge Gilbert & Gaillard judges loved its "Complex nose combining lime, white peach and jasmine. Well-defined, fleshy and rich in the mouth, driven by a lovely, invigorating freshness. The pure, crisp fruity aromas are a delight. Gold". The lovely grassy, citrussy Semillon characters bounce off the crisp, mouthwatering palate. The Steeple Block Semillon is simply sublime with fresh seafood. Try it for yourself and see.

The cool, elevated vineyards of the Adelaide Hills are home to many of Australia's great Sauvignon Blanc producers. This premium region is “absolutely stuffed to the gills with winemaking royalty” (Max Allen, Crush). Here the grapes ripen slowly, developing a full varietal expression of gooseberry, passionfruit, cut grass and tropical fruit, while retaining the vibrant acidity you know and love. It's a beautiful Sauvignon Blanc able to be paired with anything you'd enjoy alfresco, from prosciutto-wrapped melon to fresh oysters under a squeeze of lemon.

Sourced from the Porter family, Adelaide Hills growers who have worked with Corryton Burge for years. The family's Chardonnay was matured in a mix of new and used oak for 6 months. Weekly battonage helped create a full and creamy mouthfeel and balance out the acidity. Striking aromas of cashew and peach open up to a palate of white peach and stone fruit. There is a subtle creaminess with toasty oak supported by a mineral acid line maintaining freshness and complexity, the palate finishes with hints of biscuit and oyster shell and a touch of flint. "Pale straw in the glass with aromas of ripe nectarine, white peach and grapefruit, cut through with hints of soft spice, lemon curd, nougat, almond paste and meal. There's a little bit of texture and creaminess on the palate, with softly-spoken spicy oak joining the fray and a dry, stony aspect to the mealy nectarine/peach fruits on the finish" (Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion).

The Delatite team use only natural yeasts to ferment their wines and this, and other biodynamic approaches, are resulting in consistently excellent whites in particular. This has luscious, pear, peach and blossom notes but with a lovely line of acidity that keeps it fresh, revealing the varital's 'rich inner beauty' (Jeni Port, the Halliday Wine Companion).

The Watervale sub-region of South Australia's Clare Valley has become synonymous with aromatic citrus and floral scented Riesling as fresh-tasting as the name Watervale sounds. The estate-grown vines which provide the fruit for the Crabtree Watervale Riesling range from 20 to 44 years old. The bouquet suggests fresh lemon and lime, touches of orange blossom and wild flowers. On the palate, the wine is perfectly balanced with a pleasant citrus backing. Will match well with a white fish ceviche. “Tingly & bright…Very smart... 92pts” (Erin Larkin, Halliday Wine Companion). A must for Riesling lovers – and for those wondering why there are growing numbers of them.
