Wine Summary

Though Torbreck and The Steading are Scottish names, David’s first love is the Barossa – and its old vines. He’s worked with what are thought to be the planet’s oldest grapevines so expect seriously deep, rich flavours. .

“The Steading is one of my favorite Torbreck wines,” says Robert Parker. Its blend of Shiraz/Grenache and Mataro (Mourvedre) recalls the Rhône’s great Châteauneuf-du-Pape that Parker also raves about. James Halliday rated it 93 points, describing it as “a pure expression of sweet Barossa fruit … generous aromas of mocha, fruitcake, prune, fruitcake … thickly textured, unctuous, plenty of depth and a nice lift of freshness”.
