<p> Our Buyer Beth has a palate for a great wine and a nose for a bargain. Her favourite stomping ground is Spain, where she has developed close ties with family estates we've known for years. When an international order was cancelled at the last minute, a winemaker got in touch offering to slash the price if she bought the lot. Because the estate is highly regarded around the world, they couldn't be seen to have lowered their price, so we agreed not to mention the name. </p> <p> Suffice it to say, this is top of the range Rioja, aged to perfection in fine oak. It's now mellow as can be with ripe, red berry fruit character shot through with fragrant, clove-scented oak. Serve with pride with a sizzling beef hot pot or slow roasted shoulder of lamb. </p>
