<p> Planted in 1892, Richard Hamilton’s ‘Centurion’ vineyard is amongst the oldest in the McLaren Vale, and indeed the country. Situated at the back of the famed Old Hut Block, these ancient vines are anchored to some of the region’s best soils by their original rootstocks. Just 12 rows of Shiraz vines are selectively harvested and vinified in the production of this rare and distinguished wine that finds itself at the “start of a journey 120 years old … with another 30 years to go” (Halliday). </p> <p> “Wonderful deep, but vivid, purplecrimson colour … black and purple fruits are framed by a web of fine tannins ... the most exceptional features of the wine are its effortless intensity and length ... 97 points” (Halliday). </p>
