This mature oak aged red is made purely from Rioja's Tempranillo and is from Viña Extremeña - one of the finest cellars in the region thanks to a fanatical dedication to quality. The current owner, Alfonso Schlegel Iglesias, is extremely cultured and well connected, and owns an impressive art collection, including work by Salvador Dali, Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso, as well as many contemporary Spanish artists. Cask ageing has lent spicy complexity to this mellow red - it's delicious with various tapas, white meats or paella.
