Over the last 20 years, Claymore has developed a reputation for harnessing classic and alternate varietals and producing elegant wines under colourful, playful labels. Early harvested Sangiovese supplied by the winemakers' grower friends is gently pressed for a touch of colour. Light notes of strawberry, lime juice and pink grapefruit on the palate with gentle texture on the finish. Match with a spicy Sichuan mapo tofu and pork mince or barbecued mulloway with chilli and capers.
From vineyards within earshot of the bells that call out from the 'City of Churches', Adelaide. You could almost say this is a real parish pleaser. This classy white is made for lazy warm weather drinking on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The lovely grassy, citrussy Semillon characters bounce off the crisp, mouthwatering palate. The Steeple Block Semillon is simply sublime with fresh seafood. Try it for yourself and see.
Crafted by highly regarded WA winemaker Nick Bowen and sourced mainly from 20-year-old Pinot Noir plantings at Mt Barker in Great Southern, this Rosé drips with Provence styling, from its pale salmon colour to the lip-smacking tension between savouriness and fruit. Hints of cucumber, red apple skins and raspberries, with a whiff of fairy floss. Elegant, delicate, delicious. “Savoury, fine and textural … and very good... 92pts” (Erin Larkin, Halliday Wine Companion).
The cool, elevated vineyards of the Adelaide Hills are home to many of Australia's great Sauvignon Blanc producers. This premium region is “absolutely stuffed to the gills with winemaking royalty” (Max Allen, Crush). Here the grapes ripen slowly, developing a full varietal expression of gooseberry, passionfruit, cut grass and tropical fruit, while retaining the vibrant acidity you know and love. It's a beautiful Sauvignon Blanc able to be paired with anything you'd enjoy alfresco, from prosciutto-wrapped melon to fresh oysters under a squeeze of lemon.
5 Red Star Angove is one of Australia's oldest family owned wineries, founded in 1886. They have access to some of the finest fruit in the best reds regions of South Australia. The Angove Bin 4288 Cabernet Sauvignon is exclusively and carefully crafted from grapes grown in the Coonawarra for our customers. The fruit from the 2020 vintage was fantastic – small berries, great fruit concentration and lovely tannins. Warm days and cool nights provided the perfect ripening conditions for Coonawarra’s signature variety, Cabernet Sauvignon. Upon arriving at Angove's 110-year-old winery, the Cabernet grapes were gently destemmed and placed in small open fermenters. Regionally distinctive blackcurrant, spearmint and eucalypt aromas are followed by a full palate with brooding blackberry fruit and supple, mouth-filling structure. For an added layer of fruit complexity, mocha richness and overall elegance, the winemakers blended in a tiny portion (7%) of McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon.
One of our very own team members came up with the concept for this lovely label. The photograph, taken by her father of her stunningly beautiful mother Winsome, is kept in a family album referred to as The Notebook. It's a reminder to never take life too seriously and enjoy every moment.
