<p> Galli Estate was the vision of the late Tuscan born Lorenzo Galli who came to Australia in the 1950s. Today his widow Pamela Galli runs the show. The estate makes wine from Heathcote and Sunbury, though their home vineyard is at Rockbank. To make this wine young gun winemaker, Ben Ranken, matured the wine in French oak barriques for 10 months, in 10% new oak and to let the fruit really shine, used minimal filtration. </p> <p> “The hue is good ... the purity of the varietal expression, its bright red cherry flavours nipped by a nice touch of spicy/savoury tannins; good balance of fruit, oak and tannins ... 94 pts” (James Halliday). A natural partner to Italian staples from pan-fried veal cutlets to meatballs and tomato sauce to hearty beef ragu. </p>
