Wine Summary

This glorious Chianti Classico is from a 15th century hilltop property whose top wine enjoys Gran Selezione status – and costs $85 a bottle. This is made by the same winemaker whose Chianti Classico 2007 made Wine Spectator's Top 100 wines.

It also benefits from meticulous grape selection (mostly Tuscany's noble Sangiovese) and patient barrel maturation. We'd love to reveal more but the estate has a premium reputation to protect so, in return for a great deal on a cancelled order, we've agreed not to name names.

Mid-depth ruby colour with aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, leather, wood smoke and cloves. On the palate, it’s bursting with tangy, juicy fruit, layers of spice and has a long finish. It makes a fine partner to silky pan-fried veal.
