Wine Summary

Here’s a soulful classic all Italian wine enthusiasts should try. Think top-notch, aged Chianti, with a Gold-medal seal of approval. This fine example was crafted by the respected Barbanera family. “Duca di Cardino” is the nickname of their ancestor Orazio, who famously became known as ‘The Duke of Artichokes’ for defeating Florentine invaders on a field filled with the spiky vegetables.

Winemaker Marco Barbanera has helped to shape this royal wine, made from Sangiovese, and named after the town of Montepulciano. Aged for 24 months in oak, it is packed with ripe cherry, roast coffee and dark chocolate. You’ll find no better match for hearty Italian fare, ideally meaty pasta or Tuscan stew.
