Wine Summary

Combe de Caramany shows how to take two big steps up in quality level from more everyday wine at very little cost. Just one tenth of Roussillon wines are entitled to be called 'Villages' - an official rating of superior quality. Of these, only four out of 188 are good enough to add the name of the village itself - in this case Caramany.

It's a true cru of the region and indicative of the intensity you'll find in its seductive, rich reds. This is in part due to the steep slopes and special microclimate - hot, sunny days and cold nights - which make for grapes of superb quality. Crafted from Châteauneuf varieties Grenache and Syrah with a splash of Carignan, this is a red full of southern French warmth. Serve with hearty casseroles or lamb.
