Wine Summary

Corbières is home to some of the Languedoc's most impressive reds - a delicious expression of southern French warmth and the wild herb strewn scrubland. Top-estate Château Prat de Cest considerably over delivers with this velvety, black fruit red.

This prestigious property has been owned by the Saumade family since 1803. Near Narbonne, it lies on the site of a medieval castle and overlooks a lake, the Etang de Bages – the area is as famous for its wild flamingos as for its wine. Current owner Jacqueline Saumade oversees 40 hectares of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah, managed so as to ensure low yields. The fewer the grapes, the more concentrated their flavour. Enjoy with grilled lamb, cassoulet or game sausages with roasted vegetables.
