Wine Summary

Parker-rated winemaker Hervé Sabardeil has been making this big, ripe Catalan red for a decade now, so he decided to craft a special super cuvée to mark the occasion.

He sourced the grapes from the same area – the poor slate soils of Maury in the Roussillon, a town where the winemaking heritage dates back to the 2nd century BC. The fruit was from vines 60 to 100 years old, so yields are minute (about 20 hectolitres per hectare – half of a Grand Cru claret), which really adds to the power and intensity of the wine.

Grenache with a large portion of spicy, black fruit Carignan, this magnificent, weighty red makes an excellent 'Big Brother' to the original. Not to be taken lightly, it's ideal with roasted meats, rich stews or hard cheeses.
